Pembelajaran Simple Past Tense Model Top down

Simple past tense adalah salah satu bentuk tenses yang harus di kuasai oleh pelajar di Indonesia yang belajar grammar di dalam Bahasa Inggris. Tenses ini berfungsi untuk menyampaikan kegiatan yang telah terjadi di masa lampau.

Bentuk dasar dari tenses ini adalah

  S + V2 + complement 

Akan tetapi kebanyakan siswa bingung dengan penggunaan  tenses ini, mungkin ini di karenakan model pembelajaran yang di gunakan untuk mengajar oleh guru kurang tepat, sehingga siswa merasa kebingungan. Model TOP DOWN di rasa model pembelajaran yang paling tepat untuk mengajar Simple Past Tense.

Tujuan pembelajaran: Pada akhir pelajaran siswa dapat membuat kalimat simple past tense Langkah
kegiatan pembelajaran:
1] Berilah siswa sebuah teks berisi kalimat simple past tense.
     Bisa juga menggunakan paragraf di bawah ini

 Trip to Surabaya City 

Last week I had a long trip to Surabaya by motorcycle. I went there because there was a duty from my school to have English teachers’ training at Religion Department Office on Jl. Juanda. That was tiring, but I like it. I left Bondowoso around 2 a.m. Why did I start the journey at very early morning? Because the meeting would be started at 8 o’clock. I thought I wouldn’t be late leaving for Surabaya at that time. I needed 6 hours to arrive in Surabaya. That was hot and dumps. I stopped at a petrol Station to wash my hands and clean my face in the public toilet there. I asked someone there where Jl. Juanda. He told me the street. Ten minutes later I found the building. Luckily, I arrived there at 8 sharp. The meeting started sooner after I entered the room.

2] Mintalah siswa memahami bacaan. Misalnya dengan strategi memberi soal pilihan ganda, benar – salah, atau essay tentang isi bacaan. 

3] Mintalah siswa menggaris bawahi kalimat past tense. Jika menurut anda mereka belum tahu, beri contoh dan biarkan mereka bekerja dalam waktu 5 menit untuk mencari kalimat sesuai contoh. 

4] Mintalah siswa menyebutkan kalimat yang mereka temukan. Jika perlu minta mereka menuliskan di papan tulis. 

5] Ambillah 1 kalimat sebagai contoh dan masukkan ke dalam tabel yang sudah anda buat di papan. Contoh: I left Bondowoso around 2 a.m.

6] Mintalah siswa memasukkan kata-kata di bawah ini ke dalam tabel yang sesuai. She Shinta Went to Surabaya On Sunday They Campsite In the morning We You He At night Visited Walked to New York.

• They 
• Campsite

7] Berilah satu contoh. Misalnya kata New York masukkan ke kolom Bondowoso. 

I	left	Bondowoso	Around 2 a.m
		New York

8] Berilah waktu 10 menit mereka bekerja berkelompok atau dengan teman sebangku. Monitorlah pekerjaan mereka tapi jangan menginterupsi sampai mereka selesai. 

 9] Koreksi bersama-sama atau mintalah siswa memasukkan kata-kata ke dalam tabel yang ada di papan tulis sesuai dengan pekerjaan mereka. 

10] Jika selesai tunjukkan mana bertindak sebagai Subjek, Predikat, Objek atau Pelengkap. 

11] Mintalah siswa membuat kalimat kombinasi dengan mengambil kata tiap kolom dan menyusunnya menjadi kalimat. 
12] Simpulkan kalimat simple past tense dengan membuat rumus sederhana di papan tulis: S + Verb 2
